MATCH REPORT
LEAGUE MATCHES
20th May – Due to Covid restrictions, this year’s league matches are being organised differently to normal, with all matches being played at the GFA premises at Almondsbury. Our Over 50’s team kicked off their 2021 season in a positive frame of mind, despite being up against larger and longer-established teams. With two very tight games (with some unlucky goals conceded), and one rather tougher game, the whole team were delighted to keep a clean sheet and gain a much-deserved draw against Alltudion. Rich played fantastically well in goal, earning him the player of the day award.
26th May – Close on the heels of the younger team, our Over 60’s team also kicked off their 2021 season. With our usual goalkeepers unavailable, Chris B took over the gloves, and put in a fine display. The bad news on the day was the shoulder injury suffered by Alan C only a few minutes after coming onto the pitch. It improved markedly in the next hour, but not enough for him to return to the pitch. The good news was that all the games were close, and we were very unlucky to lose the last match by the odd goal. And the great news was that we won our first game, so we know we can do it. Eddie received the player of the day award, having defended strongly and scoring one of the goals.
FRIENDLIES
1st May - Having had a month’s training since coming out of lockdown, Cam and Dursley played their first friendly matches away to Abbeymead Rovers. Each club fielded two teams, and each team played four short games. It was a beautiful sunny day, and everyone worked hard and enjoyed and learned from the experience. We won some games, lost some games, and drew some games, so the spoils were more-or-less evenly spread.

6th May - Cam and Dursley were delighted to host Wotton for a round robin pitting their two sides against a Wotton squad of 10. Each team playing twice it was the visitors who marginally took the honours drawing their first game 0-0 and carving out a narrow 2-0 victory in their second. For an improving Cam and Dursley there was also much to take from the evening as they continue to prepare for the forthcoming season.
